Random Facts About Luke:
- His fonon frequency is Pi. Yes, Pi. 3.14
- His and Asch's birthday in our calendar would be December 25th. ...That can't be a coincidence.
- "Luke" means Light of the Sacred Flame in Ancient Ispanian

Auldrant's Fonic Alphabet:

Yes. B/V and G/J are the same, apparently, and there's no x at all. Lol \O_o/ But it's definitely based off english.
(Although I found this that oddly, who ever drew this has separate ones for each ...whut. Probably not official cause like the Abyss logo has all the numbers written on it, and six is written just si. So. Yeah. lol)
Thanks to the anime, we are getting LOTS more fonic examples!

Lol Anise's letter. Looks like start of sentences use a larger, bolder letter... or else there's no visible punctuation, except for a couple marks that resemble question marks, but it's not very clear so hard to tell if it's actually saying what she said, or just kinda random. XD But anyhoo..
And from the first episode it shows chunks of the score. Like this.
Fun stuff. *A*

The Ending
**IT SHOULD GO WITHOUT SAYING BUT SPOILERS BELOW!**
This is my huge long babble about the ending and my hours and hours of browsing through info, the script and people's debates. This is more than anything for my own headcanon/sanity. I wrote it just to help wrap my brain around it cause before I could app Luke I really wanted to decide on my own headcanon. IDK for sure that it's accurate or anything, but anyhoo... this is my take on stuff.
One of the biggest mysteries of the game is the ending. Supposedly left open-ended by the developers, it's been much the debate of fans.
Unfortunately, some of the canon in the game doesn't point much in Luke's favor, however, the ending does seem to favor the person at the end of being Luke.
Here's the scoop:
Asch and Luke are perfect isofons. They have the same fonon frequency to a T. However, there is an issue which is brought to light by a side quest involving a cheagle named Star.
Star was another subject of Dist's work with Fomicry. He also had a perfect isofon copy made of him. However, it was discovered that the original when this was done begins to deteriorate. Jade mentions an emission caused by fonon separation, although it's said in layman's terms it means his physical and fonic strength would decrease.
When Jade speaks to Star, Star tells him he's the original and he thinks his replica is dead, or rather, he says that Star himself died, and then he felt something flow into him and he was alive again and his replica was gone.
So what happened? The Big Bang, as it's called by Jade and Dist. It's a contamination effect.
What's a contamination effect?
Luke: Huh. If you say so. Anyway, Jade, there’s something I've been wanting to know.
Jade: ...What is it?
Luke: Your spear just suddenly comes out of nowhere. How does that work?
Jade: It’s a fusion arte that utilizes the contamination effect.
Luke: The contami-what?
Tear: The contamination effect. It's an effect where the fonons and elements of matter separate and refuse together.
Guy: Ah, like the fusion property materials used in synthesis.
Jade: Yes. Not only are the fonons in living things and inorganic materials different, but so are the elements that comprise them. Utilizing that difference, I temporarily fuse my spear into the outer layer of my right arm.
Luke: And then you take it out when you need it, huh? That's convenient.
Tear: Don't say you want to try it, too, Luke. Normally, the body rejects the effect, and it can cause mental damage, even insanity.
Basically when Star died, he took his copy back into him and lived again. Apparently the memories of the copy do stay intact, but only the memories.
So what does this mean for Asch and Luke?
According to this, Asch is suffering from the same problem. He believes he is as he knows he's running out of time, but he didn't understand the fact that the big bang would make him potentially live again.
So at the end, supposedly, The Big Bang occurs, and Luke is pulled back into Asch and Asch revives.
But is it really that simple? The very ending scenes puts this into question as, by how the whole scene was setup, the viewer is easily led to believe it's Luke.
We don't know exactly how Star originally died. Did something kill him? Or did he die when his fonon's separated. If it was the later, then Asch was different as he died early from massive stabbing. BUT Dist tells Jade that premature death won't stop the contamination effect from happening. Dist doesn't doubt that the effect had already begun.
But could it have made a difference anyways? It seems unlikely as Dist and Jade's theories are rarely wrong.
But there are other differences. For starters their hyperressonances. When Asch dies something flows into Luke and he gains the ability to use a second-order hyperressonance.
Secondly, Luke himself is suffering from fonon separation before hand, which Star's replica couldn't have been since Luke's was caused by the events on the Tower of Rem. Could this have also changed something?
Plus there's Lorelei. Could he have intervened in some way? Asch and Luke are also his perfect isofons.
Then there's the after-the-credits ending. A year later Tear singing the hymn. There appears a figure. He has long hair (which, IMHO, is not quite Asch colour. Actually if you compare it to the palette used in any of the animated scenes of Luke in a darker setting, such as the opening, or in the scene when he's holding Asch, the colouring is practically identical. Where as Asch's highlights are more red and the shadows darker.) but doesn't have the long front locks. His hair hangs in a more Luke fashion. He has the key of lorelei (which had, from the picture in the credits, been left abandoned in the ruins of eldrant) and it's on his back as Luke would wear it.
The whole scene thus far has been very centered on Tear and her waiting for Luke. When the stranger walk up the camera shows them facing eachother. It's very much on them.
Tear asks "Why are you here?" And our Luke-a-like says he had a promise to keep. Tear gasps and starts crying and blahblah.
The camera oddly does stop to look to Jade, which is interesting. Did Jade know something? Apparently! If it was Asch who came back, I don't think he'd be looking fairly... calm about it. Jade seemed to want Luke to survive. He looks almost kinda pleased so. Uh.
From how that is played out, IMVHO, it'd make no sense for it not to be Luke. If it was Asch I doubt the focus would be on Tear and the promise Luke made to return. That would be pretty cruel to do that if that was the truth.
And, if there's anything Doctor Who has taught me, if you can make up the technobabble to make it sound like it could work, it can. There was a lot of unusual factors going into their big bang that one could in theory use to say it was Luke.
SO, this brings me to my own headcanon and how I'm playing Luke here.
Do I think that was the big bang? It's hard to say no.
I'm taking him from around that point. I'm going to stay as ambiguous about why he is as he is and just what did happen at the end. :Db Since the developers decided to be mysterious, I can too! I gots creative license. :| Did Asch's body and him merge? Maaaaaybe. Or is it just before? Maaaaaaybe. Doesn't that mean he's fonon's are still splitting? Maaaaaaaybe... although actually if I went with as it was happening, I'd say something to do with him being brought here stopped it, or the lack of fonons on earth or something about it pushed all his fonons back together. Or I don't know. MAKE UP TECHNOBABBLE. :|b Or did his second-order hyperressonance stop it? \O_o/ Hey, if it could work? Sure.
Basically I'm not going to say for sure, and nor is Luke, cause hell if he knows. So I think this works out fine. :D
(Buuuut, in my own little headcanon world, I'd personally like to think, yeah okay, prolly the big bang. Whatever happened, I'd like to think Asch (or Asch's soul anyways) was left to rest, and that it is very much Luke who returns. Yeah, Asch's body possibly was involved but... anyhoo. The whole year gone thing... I wonder if after that where he ended up? He coulda been like.. in bad shape. Maybe a bit headtrauma'd XD Lack of memory? Found and had to recouperate and regain his memories, till finally he remembered and went to find his friends. *A* It'd explain the new threads and the hair! :D ...I donno. I think it makes sense. ^_^)
ANYHOO. So... yeah. That's stuff about the ending.
